AutoCAD NAB
During the Graphical Communication course at Rose students were tasked with creating an academic building with a certain criterion to meet. The buildings were said to have x amounts of offices, labs, bathrooms, and more. At the time Rose was in the final stages of the new academic building that was going up and the civil department saw it as an opportunity to see how the civil majors would layout the building. To start off the project, I sketched out tons of draft floor plans to best utilize the space allotted and still meet the criteria. An aspect that really stood out to me with this project is that there was a significant amount of open space where the stairs were placed and needed something to draw away from big industrial looking stairs. My idea was to add a large atrium where one of the skywalks were considering our campus is very aesthetically pleasing. After 2 weeks of adding rooms and details to the floor plan I came up with a final draft of the floor plans that met criteria and then some. By the end of the project navigating AutoCAD significantly increased, and my sense of vision was tested. With the conclusion of the course, I can say that I can use this gained knowledge to create objects and plans for projects in the future as it is a great tool to turn an idea into a scaled model.
